Rooms with a View (PHEW)! from Sew Preeti Quilts

Island Batik's November Challenge and Blog Hop is sponsored by ByAnnie

I chose the project - Room with a View.  I chose to make all three sizes.

The pattern and all supplies including vinyl, mesh, Soft and Stable, zippers etc. were provided, thanks to our generous industry partners at ByAnnie.

Supplies

I received fabrics from the Morris Mist collection.

Morris Mist is a signature collection by Kathy Engle for Sherry Shish of Powered by Quilting.

It should be shipping to a quilt stores in November 2023.

The Fabrics

Island Batik Ambassador Boxes from Sew Preeti Quilts

It is hot and humid. Fortunately I am well-prepared to stay (and entertain myself) indoors.  That is where Island Batik's second shipment of goodies is supremely helpful :-D

Here is the "Set" of Unboxing Video showing Nihal on the left and Wednesday on the right.

Unboxing Video - Set up

It is good to be an ambassador!  Here is the link to the Unboxing video.  There is an oops in there and I left it as such. We are only human!

I start with the generous box of batting provided by Hobbs.

Thermore Batting - Light and Very Thin

Train Case from Wendy's Quilts and More

My first finish of 2023.

Months ago I saw a beautiful Liberty train case for sale in a shop.  It was pretty pricey, so I decided to make my own version.

Now I know why it was pricey - they are very fiddly!

This one ended up bigger than my original plan, but the smaller you go, the more fiddly it gets.

I ended up using Mink Kim's pattern from Sewing Illustration for Cutie Cube Bag, with quite a few modifications. Mine is sized somewhere between her big and small sizes.  Mine has the binding on the outside rather than ...

I chose the bag, I chose the fabrics and everything was sent to me. Gosh, I am spoiled!!!

Soft & Stable - For Bags that Stand Tall

Pattern and the Hardware

I chose fabrics from the Spring 2022 Sunset Plains Collection. It is a beautiful collection with bright greens, reds and maroons designed by Kathy Engle. I love the Cactus print.

Flowers on my morning walk - Collection Inspiration?

On second thoughts, I should have chosen a non-directional print.  Keeping the cactus ...

Island Batik and ByAnnie Challenge from Sew Preeti Quilts

Me: I am so excited that I can explode!!!
Paul: Surprise that the new bag cannot "contain" your excitement.

Let's ignore Paul for now.  I have been consumed by the bag making process and my excitement sometimes (okay, often) spilled into his area.

Island Batik teamed with ByAnnie for the September Challenge.  We picked a pattern of our choice from ByAnnie. I chose the backpack Got Your Back 2.1.  All fabric was provided by Island Batik. I chose Moonlight Sky - designed by Kathy Engle for Kate Colleran of Seams Like a Dream Quilt Designs

ByAnnie provided the detailed ...

Catch All Caddy 2.0 from Wendy's Quilts and More

I've got another finished bag to share with you.

This is the Catch All Caddy 2.0 from Patterns by Annie.

I gave my mum the pattern for Christmas and the fabrics for her bag (Land Art by Odile Bailloeul for Free Spirit Fabrics), shown on the left above.

Then, after just a few days, it dawned on me that she might make one for me too, so I quilted the panels for my bag before mum went home to Auckland.  She took them with her, and when we went to Auckland a couple of weeks ago she presented ...

Zip It Up bags from Wendy's Quilts and More

A couple of weeks ago I watched Tula Pink's video launching her new black and white fabric line - Linework (It won't be available for months yet, so don't panic).  Towards the end of the video Tula showed two Zip It Up! bags she had made.  I thought they looked amazing so I dashed off and ordered the pattern from the Ribbon Rose in Auckland.

Here's a link to Tula's video.  The bags appear at about 22 minutes in.

Of course we can't get Linework yet, so I ordered some half yards of Tula's ...

A Place For Everything Bag – Tips & Tricks from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

For a couple of months now, I have been dreaming of a way to organize my sewing machine’s odds and ends. The accessory case that came with my Bernina broke after falling off a table many years ago. Although only one of the doors from the case will not stay put, I haven’t wanted to use it because it isn’t very stable. I thought about buying something like the Sew Stack Machine Feet Box but decided that I could just make my own. I bought a pattern By Annie called A Place For Everything, then found the ...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Wendy's Quilts and More

2019 is almost over.  I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas with family and friends.  We certainly did here.

I cleared my sewing table in the family room and we put the presents on the table, rather than under the tree this year.

I got 3 new Mill Hill Santas to join the one I've already made.  I love making these little decorations and they look so good on the tree.  Here are some other Mill Hill kits I've made in previous years.

I gave mum some of the new Land Art fabric by Odile Bailloeul ...
